ZERO WASTE

Zer0waste aims to improve the overall recycling infrastructure and promote recycling and waste minimization efforts within NUS. Under this project, paper recycling bins were placed outside examination halls during the examination period and at most residential complexes and hostels.

According to a study conducted by CSC, it has been found that students and staff are disposing incorrect types of recyclables into recycling bins due to the lack of awareness and knowledge about recyclables. An example is the presence of paper food wrappers in paper recycling bins. These food wrappers are not recyclable due to the presence of organic components such as cooking oil on them. Project Zer0waste will be extended in late August or early September 2008 to address such issues.
